		Continuing Education

	Our physical therapists and occupational therapist are continually pursuing professional education, demonstrated by the activities listed below: July 2007: Tracey Maras, MA, OTR/L attended “Promoting OT and Developing our Strategic Plan for Professional Advancements of the State Association” July, 2007: Christina Brinkoetter, PTA, completed 3 educational programs: “ Asthma & Allergies”, “Food Allergies” and Fast Food Traps”. August 22: Midwest’s physical therapists attended a lecture on “Pharmacology Agents and Their Effect on Physical Therapy Treatments”. The lecture presented by Bill McGehee, PT, MHS, Assistant Professor at Bradley University at the IPTA district meeting.

September 8-9: Barb Sullivan, PT attended an APTA Advanced Clinical Practice seminar, “Health Promotion and Wellness” at UIC in Chicago.
September 24: 4 physical therapists from Midwest participated in the quarterly Journal Club organized by Springfield Clinic’s Orthopaedic Surgeons and Sports Medicine professionals.
October 2: Gail Heuschober, PT attended a seminar sponsored by the Greater Peoria Claims Association with sessions on the “Mechanics and Treatment of Shoulder and knee injuries”, “Why the Increase in (Worker’s Compensation) Settlement Values” and others,
October 4: Midwest Rehabilitation was one of the primary sponsors of Dr Fletcher’s 15^th annual Work Injury 2007 conference “5 disciplines, 1 goal: well-Functioning Cost Effective Workers’ Compensation System”. Theresa Delvo, PT was a panel speaker for the topic “Utilization Review and Practice Guidelines”. Four additional clinicians attended the full day seminar.
October 17: Barb Sullivan participated in a APTA PPS web cast: “The Cash Advantage-Becoming the Practice of Choice for Rehabilitation, Health Promotion, and Fitness”, presented by Jennifer Gamboa, DPT.
October 18: Tracey Maras, MA, OTR/L attended a lecture, “Giving Dynamic Presentations”. The lecture was presented by David Lisnek, Noontime Toastmasters Speakers Bureau speaking at the Illinois Women in Leadership meeting.
October 24: Midwest’s physical therapists attended a lecture “Current Research and Its Impact on Shoulder Rehabilitation”. This lecture is presented by Bill O’Connor, PT, SCS, at the IPTA district meeting.
October 31: Theresa Delvo, PT and Christina Brinkoetter, PTA attended “Orthopaedics in Primary Care: Expand Your Scope of Practice”, sponsored by SIU School of Medicine.
November 1: Midwest Rehab is hosting a Brown Bag Lecture at Midwest Rehab. Dr. John Watson from OCI is the guest speaker, presenting “A Physiatrist’s Approach to Low Back Pain”.
November 5: Joe Williams, PT attended a WorkSTEPS regional Seminar in Chicago.
November 6-10: Theresa Delvo, PT attended APTA’s Private Practice Section Annual Conference in San Diego, Ca.
